jeeps been in the family for a while... just basically been a stock 4.2/ax15 with d30/35 axles 4inc lift and 33's

now has a dana 60front,reid knuckels, 35spline, clean all thats left is hubs, and front locker
rear is dana 60 disk conversion, with tru track, sitting on waggies
rollin on some 17's with 36's irocks plan on going mtrk's

got rid of the nasty 4.2/ax15/231
for a 4.6fi stroker,new jacobs ax15/terralow 231 with short sye, 4:1
just keepin it easy,

how it sets in my shop.

this is my first inline6 swap, ive done tbi and tpi, and ls1 but never this
so help is needed,
i got the harness all in and so far working, the engine harness i guess is out of a newer wrangler (93 i think), i have power but the starter dont work, and i dont have power to the fuel pump,

i just picked up a e2000 inline fuel pump from a ford to do the swap, so i dont have to deal with the intank crap,
and i have this plug under the dash i dont know where it goes..

i think i might have to switch out the harness under the dash to get everything elce to work.. :D

plans:
regear,
front locker,
some custom front finders
keep it low,
finish the swap, maybe boost,
if the money comes up do a diffrent suspension set up, maybe air shocks,4link,

i am sure this swap has been done, i got the harness all in, and everything hooked up but the fuel pump.
i have power to everything but the ign switch, ive turned it over with jumping the starter, and it gets spark, and you can hear the injectors. just no use of the ign switch, lights work. unsure of the fuel pump, still tracking down the wires.

yea i got the matching under dash harness.. i just spent 2 hours swapping it, only a few pugs matched, and the gagues dont swap over, and still no crank, only thing that really works is the head lights, you can hear the injectors and that it, same as the oem harness, i think i will swap back and just find a way to swap the pins, the under that dash harness was a waste of time,

That plug under the dash carries the wires to the gauges. But it also is the supply for the column mounted ignition switch. Down at the base of the column.

On the ignition switch you have a black and a blue multi terminal connector. This is powered from the PDC and through the plug in your picture. Not the bulkhead fuse box.

With your comments on wiring up other swaps you should know where to go next.

The fuel pump gets its power via the FP relay. With the ignition switch simply a switch for the relay. Again the plug in the picture.

Another issue is that the FP ground is tied into one of the two ring terminals mounted on the dipstick stud. One ring has a single wire while the other ring has two wires to a single ring. Those three wires and two rings account for all the grounds for the complete IP, ECM and engine. You can do a lot better here.

Make the engine crank and once that is happening see it the FP relay is getting tripped and sending voltage to the pump.

yea most of the swaps ive done are in gm. so i am new to this, i am going to put the oem under dash harness back in, ive searched and found out that there is a few wires you can swap around on the bulk head connector to get it to turn over... but i will also check into what your sayin.

The bulkhead uses GM Metri Pack terminals 280, 480 and 630`s. Take the blue and white locks out of the bulkhead and ten pry the tabs down like most GM terminals and they will pull right out.

What years are your engine/IP harnesses ? Both are YJ, correct ? 91-05 should be plug and play. If you are using the old 4.2 IP harness then there is a few to switch around.

The factory moved two wires for a recall on salt tracking. Which may or may not have been done. Other then that it ought to be plug and play. People make it a lot harder then it needs to be.

If you use the XJ harnesses then you have a few wires to move.

yea the motor and harness are 1994, the oem tub harness is 89, i swapped out the harness under the dash to 94, but due to nothing swapping over i am going to put the oem 89 one back in.

OR

Keep the 94 harness and run 91 and up OEM gauges.

OR

keep the 94 harness and run aftermarket gauges.

IMHO would be a better option.

the 94 harness under the dash dont plug in to over half of the oem plugs down there, and i dont have the harness that runs to the backlights and fuel, so they dont match,

so i have the 89 dash harness back in, it turns over has spark, just need to wire fuel pump, ive check the fp relay and it has power, i check the plug in the pic, (gauge plug) and noting for 12volts with the key on, there is 2 that have power all the time. now some people say that the 89 harness had the power on the harness that goes to the tank/rear lights ( my jeep had a manual pump) no luck there either, i just need to find the two wires to the pump,
