If the frame was from a 4.0L, you will have to change the motor mounts and relocate them towards the rear. Just did the opposite.

I think the frame came from a 2.5l jeep. Does the 1989 engine use diffrent motor mounts than the 1992 engine?

I'm not 100% on this, but I believe they are different. I have a '93 2.5L and looking for new motor mounts recently, I saw a few older YJ's and they looked a little bit off. I know that's not the tech info you wanted, but hope it helps.

there was no 4.0 in a 89 frame, 4.2 yes, prolly what you meant but yeah, still won't fit a 4 cyl.

seems all 2.5's would be the same but not sure:confused:

no they are not the same.... you need the engine brackets and rubber mounts from the same year as the frame or a little bit of creativity... if you can do really simple fabbing then you need no help if you can't then find the right parts
