You want 1 or both? One of them definitely has a bent shaft on top of it being a pile of shit. Both leak, both have missing hardware and other issues. These things are in no way usable without dumping a ton of money into them. I dont want you to get the wrong idea about free FOA's.
I ship stuff UPS at work all the time, PM me your address and I'll get you a quote if your serious.
I think it will be cool to have sombody with your knowledge look them over and give an honest review. Plus we need some tech around here.
I'm sure it wont be as impressive as roostonu's review with all his fancy aerospace measuring equipment, book learning n shit but we will take what we can get from the handicap guy.
he proved my point, he just wants to bicker and doesnt have shit to offer. maybe after he gets his shocks and actually gets some experience he will have something to offer, probably not though
I did not start the bickering. I read through 8 pages of posts on FOA shocks on this thread alone. I read through the good and bad reviews. I read all the bad experiences that people claim and then posted that I read all the reviews and that I was going to risk getting them anyway. I never asked anyone if they thought I was doing the right thing and I certainly never asked for further reviews. I simply stated why I decided to take the chance. But then everyone that had already contributed their opinions on FOA on this same thread had to make sure to jump on board and tell me how stupid I was being and I must be shilling if I wouldn't take your advise. Some made claims that I was praising FOA, I know more than all of you and none of you know better than me. None of those things were said by me but since I decided to play in YOUR playground, I better play by your rules. The picture was a piece of shit. Am I supposed to look at that crappy picture and change my mind? Do you think I didn't see the pictures of the crawlpedia review before I made my decision? Sorry you didn't like the way I introduced myself, but I'm not looking for anyone's approval. You can read that shit into my post if you want, but that's not what I said.

I’m not looking at damage. I’m looking at quality of build. I’ve also worked for five major shock manufacturers that I’m allowed to speak of. I used to design shocks for many years and now I consult. If that doesn’t give me some level of credibility to look at a shock and point out its design issues or attributes then I guess I’m not going to make you happy.

You should not have known that unless you lurked and asked questions. Clearly a lot of other people in this thread knew. If I’ve learned one thing on pirate there is always somebody who knows more than you about what you think you are an expert in. Never assume anything about anybody on this site. Unless they come in guns a blazing acting like they know everything. Those guys are fucking stupid.

If you really hate them that much. I'll pay shipping plus some 12 pack money, or? I'll even let frank have his way with them first.
I'm trying to gather parts for a crawler and these would definitely get me going so I don't have have to drop $1500 on the ones I want (really want fox with dsc knob)
Only one shock has a "bowed" shaft. The retard that installed it didn't check for track bar bracket clearance when the suspension was articulated so it bowed the shaft.
Shocks have never been opened up and realistically only have a handful of miles in them. The insides will be the same as shipped from FOA. I dont see that as being an unfair comparison. Think of it as a review of a shock after putting some miles on it. It should tell us if the loose tolerances inside cause odd or excessive wear issues.
I'm actually very much looking forward to Frank's review. He has no skin in the game so I'm expecting it to be insightful and fair.

I didn't claim to be able to evaluate the design, only the quality or lack of quality in the machining and deburring. I never said anyone was wrong I just didn't sit back and take all the bullshit comments with my tail between my legs like you expect.
Well now I have to get them, because I told the girlfriend I needed to clean up the garage so that I could get to my workbench. Apparently that’s going to happen whether the shocks come or not now.
I may have to chop my workbench down though because my assistant is not very tall.
I had to make the same disclaimer when I got rid of my set  honestly I didn't even want to, I had them clunking around to use as mockups for the next build and was just gonna throw them in the corner after that.
A buddy of mine was buying the trans from my old rig and some other parts at a fair price, and mentioned interest in the FOAs as well...I told him I'd throw them in for free, as-is, if he promised I would never hear a single word or question about them. :grinpimp: no idea whatever happened to them after that, heh...
edit: I said it before in this thread, FOA was always good about getting me replacement parts. I just got tired of continually needing parts and losing out on race and wheeling weekends because of it. I have Fox all around on the new rig and I have no idea how good or bad their service is, because they've been flawless for over 6 years. Some things are better places to save money than others, choose wisely.
Those are in much better condition than the first air shock I ever got. I think DS I bent it in a competition and the guys at Poly could not get it apart. I had to do some crazy stuff to get it working to learn about spring rates and how airshock performs.
Those are fine for what I want to do. You can degas them and compress them to put them in a smaller box also. If they piss oil everywhere put them in a kitchen garbage bag.

I'm going to wash and wrap them in a bag before I ship them. They have been in my shop for years. I dont want to accidentally send you Black Widow spiders.
