I was at a junkyard today and there sat a unmolested 400 with a 203 attached to it. I left it there because I don't need more stuff laying around that no one else wants to buy. Around here I don't think I could give it away on craigslist. To go back and get it would be about 2 hours and 50 miles of driving. How much do these things sell for around your areas? Are these 32 spline setups still sought after?

well i kind of want it, but if it is a 2 hour drive to you, it surely won't be worthwhile to me

$200 for the combo sounds reasonable, i'd be impressed if you couldn't get that for the setup.

(obviously i have no idea what these are worth :rasta: )

edit: $400 for SBC/TH400/203 https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/pts/d/snohomish-sbc-th/6860356478.html

looks like 'rebuilt' ones are 800-1200 around here for just the 400

If it was more than $200 then going with a blackbox is the same price after you buy the $700 adapter.

The th400+203 range box might get you $500 at most.

And fwiw, no wiw threads allowed :flipoff2:

Black boxes are only 900??? I'm pretty sure they're at least 1600. Maybe you meant the eco box? Or any other DIY underdrive unit?
I have a32 spline 203 if anyone is interested lol

The th400/np203 was only offered in 1978 and 79. Id say it is worth $400-$500 with the original 4x4 bellhousing, a little less with a 2wd bellhousing.

I had forgotten how big the 203 was. And the what it cost to put it in between something.

The eco box being 600 ish dollars and the a 241 being maybe 200 (you need the planetary for the eco box) what would a person add all the weight for the same thing with the 203 box?

I got my 465/203 parts for about $150.

My full size, full body chevy doesnt care about 50lbs difference and at the time black boxes/eco/planetaries were not available

I had a ford 203 a few years back, it sat on craigslist for long time until the right person found it and bought it from me.
IMO, it's not worth it to store it and find the right guy anymore, there are other junkyard items that seem to sell faster.
