Ok so I’m looking to drop a cam into my 87 4runner(22re). what are the ****** for the low end power?
Something like: SPECS: 261° duration, 212° @ .050 lobe lift

Or: .431 lift, 220 int, and 220 ex

Maybe: 270° duration, 219° @ .050 lobe lift, .430" gross valve lift, 110° centerline

So I’m new to all of the cam stuff. I don't plan on making this a street racer cause I know that 22re's don't work like that. I just want some more low-end power to help push my tires. I'm looking for the power band to start as soon as it can and maybe drop off about 4200-5000 give or take a little on each end. Please don't give me hell about gears cause there coming when I buy the cam. I know that I will have to replace the rocker arms but what else. The motor has 176000 miles on it. I know that some of you say that that is way to many miles to put a cam in but the engine was babied ( the hole truck was hell the body mount bushings are in sweet shape :flipoff2: ) and I replaced the timing chain, guards, and gears along with rebuilding the top have of the engine around 150,000 miles.
Any help will be sweet.
Thanks, 4runningHank

Give Ted or Tod a call at Engnbldr's.. All you need is his RV cam... designed specifically for your requirements... You can find his stuff on E-bay or you can go here...

Ted's got two cams now. They make similar power, but his new one is a little lower on the rpm. I've got gears and a doubler, so I went with the 270 for the highway.
