HI, I HAVE A 1985 TOYOTA PICKUP WITH A REBUILT 22RE WITH ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON IT AND A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I LIVE IN HAWAII, SO ITS NOT SNOWING OR ANYTHING. THE WHEATER IS BETWEEN 70-90 DEGREES. FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS NOW I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY TRUCK DOESN'T START WITH ONE TURN OF THE KEY WHEN I FIRST START IT IN THE MORNING. IT STARTS WITHIN ABOUT THREE TURNS OF THE KEY. IF I PRESS THE GAS WHEN TRYING TO START IT, IT BECOMES EVEN HARDER TO START. BUT AFTER IT STARTS IT RUNS PERFECT, THE IDLE IS SMOOTH AND IT RUNS FINE. ALSO AFTER THE ENGINE STARTS TO WARM UP AND IF I TRY TO START IT AGAIN IT STARTS WITH ONLY ONE TAP OF THE KEY. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! IS IT SOMETHING WITH THE COLD START SYSTEM?

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

THANX, LOPAKA

when you first start your truck in the morning, the oil is cold, thus thicker than when it is warm, and doesn't get pumped through the internals of your engine as quickly as when it is warmed up. Oil thins when it gets warm (it's like trying to squirt syrup through a small hole as compared to water; the water will squirt through quicker because it is less viscous, or thinner). In the morning the oil is cold, and has had time to drain out of the engine, so your basically starting the truck dry, which entails more friction. Hope this is making sense, im not really saying it the way I wanted to. But that's the general idea. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
