Go to google and do a search for homemade 230v extension cord and check out how many obituaries/death articles come up.
Ummm... None?!? :flipoff2:

Not rocket science here. All you're doing is attaching the ends to the properly sized wire.

Depending on how long a cord you want, 6/3 SOOW should get you up to about 50' of cord and Lowes or Home Depot should carry it. You definitely want stranded cord - not solid.

The pull n' save by my house always has a few RV's. We grabbed a shoreline from one of them and replaced the ends to match what was on the welder and plasma. It has worked great and only cost 6 bucks for the cord plus $30 for the ends.

You want SO cord and most welders/distances don't need more then 2 gauge.

SO cord is really flexible lots of strands and has a resistent jacket, it's basically raw materials for building extension cords.
