I made a 100' cord out of some 2ga (I think) 4 wire stuff. I did not use the extra neutral. I think it is the same stuff they use at concerts. The cable is about 1.5" thick and it is nice and flexable. I bought the ends at Lowes.
Go to google and do a search for homemade 230v extension cord and check out how many obituaries/death articles come up. I bought a 50' for like $75 I think. Figured it was better than taking ANY chances.
Depending on how long a cord you want, 6/3 SOOW should get you up to about 50' of cord and Lowes or Home Depot should carry it. You definitely want stranded cord - not solid.
The pull n' save by my house always has a few RV's. We grabbed a shoreline from one of them and replaced the ends to match what was on the welder and plasma. It has worked great and only cost 6 bucks for the cord plus $30 for the ends.
