I had an 82 2wd diesel, it was a 1L. If you want to put it in a 4x4 you will probably need a new oil pan. If doing a swap you might need a new belhousing take the fuel tank and wiring to do the swap. I was converting one myself. I know a guy here on the board had bell housings from Australia which I was going to use.
