Maybe just me, but I don't think going from stock 2.46:1 to only 3.15 is worth it, unless your gears are shot. I guess every little bit helps though. When I changed my d20 from 2:1 to 2.46 I did'nt notice much difference.

I thought the gears were top notch and seem to be holding up quite well. They are quieter than the old ones but they were sort of shot. It wasn't night and day but it was better than nothing and lass than half the price of the others out there. It look some work with the die grinder to get the intermediate gear to fit in but not all that much grinding.

What tranny are you using and what axle gear ratio?
I am running the T-90/model 18 with 5.38s and 36s. It's really not that bad but I do want to upgrade to a T-18, maybe next year.

waterdog, thanks for the help with the jeeps. Anyway, I think that going to the tera gears doesn't make a huge, huge difference but it is definetly noticible and worth it if you ask me. Just for kicks here are some ratios to look at:

4.56's x 2.46 dana 18 x 6.4 (t-98) = 71.79
4.56's x 3.15 tera x 6.4 = 91.92

and to get the same ratio you started with

3.56 x 3.15 tera x 6.4 = 71.76

Not that im saying you can get 3.56 gears, but just showing that changing t-case gears makes a huge difference compared to changing axle gears.

You're getting a T-90 to hold up to 36's?? Wow. I grenaded mine twice with 33's. The T18 is a nice swap. I'm running T18/D18/5.38's with 33's

I must drive like an old man. I have also only had the 36s for about 4-5 trips, but I did break the frame the first time out with them. Hmmm.

The big problems I've had are oil leaks & the shifter popping out of low range. Neither seems to be directly related to the gears. I pulled it once & took it back to Jack to have him figure out why it was popping out. When he took it apart he found a cracked gear, which was probably caused by it popping out under load. He replaced the gear & also put in a Spicer intermediate (not part of his set) because he didn't like the looks of mine. He din't charge anyhing, but it still popped out. I think I need a new spring for the shifter detent. Jack (O'Brian) told me it should be 1" long & mine was short, so I stretched it, which worked for a while. I went w/ the 3.6 becuse he is working on an overdrive for it, which won't work w/ his 4.1 od 4.86 ratio sets. An o/d is available for the Terra kit, but a stock one only works w/ stock gears. Hope this helps.
