I'm trying to find what California Chevy model vehicle came standard with a TBI 350, manual tranny, and NO smog pump. I have such a motor of unknown origin that I need to source the computer for and would like to keep it California smog compliant

did they put the vin on the motors? If so why not look up the vin?

I don't believe the VIN is on the motor, just engine casting which indicates '87 - '95 block.

You could always buy an aftermarket, performance chip for the truck. I don't necessarily know if it'll keep it smog legal, but some of those chip companies claim to be 50 state emission legal

My 90 burb has TBI and no smog pump--calif emissions, but has an auto--- don't know if that helps.

There is a block ID number and partial VIN stamped on a pad on the block deck surface that sticks out in front of the passenger side head. This number positively IDs the original application of the motor. A helpful dealer should be able to decode the number for you.
