Since I am new to the board, but not new to Jeeps I figured I would let you guys/girls know what I am working on. I currently have three Jeeps, a '00 XJ, '73 CJ-5, and an '85 CJ-7. I recently picked up the 7 for $650. I will be getting a 350 with TH350 for $400 to throw in it. Does that sound like a good combo combined with the Dana 300? Any things I should take into consideration? Does anyone have this combo and if so, do you have a page I can look at?

Since I'm a cheap bastard I avoid adapters whenever I can. I suggest a 205 transfer case. I'm running a 350 tpi/th350/205 in a cj7 stretched over a J10 frame.

205's are easy to find. Don't pay over $200.00. Still cheaper than Advance Adapters and you could sell the 300 to recoup your cost and will probably make a profit!

The adapter from the TH350 to an NP208 from mid to late 80's chevy trucks will bolt up the D300. All you have to do is find out the spline count on your tranny and get a new input gear for the Dana 300, unless you get a TH350 with a 23 spline output shaft then they will bolt right up.

What gears are you planning on running and how much power is the 350 putting out, because a TH700R4 may be a better choice for getting the crawl ratio down a little bit. If the 350 is less than 300 horses the R4 will handle it with no problem. The adapter also came on the R4's so bolting it up won't be a problem. You will need to get a new input gear though.

Hope this helps
