I used to run 4.88's and 37's it's a trailer queen also but I did drive it on the road sometimes to the trailhead as much as 10 miles and i thought it was perfect, now i run 39's w/ 4.88's and it's still good.

what are the rest of the specs on your rig, if you have a single case and a manual, i would go for as low as possible.
mine is a 2.7 taco with dual's and a 4.7 in the rear case

I got a 4 bangin yota on 37 boggers, manual tranny, single case, 5.29's and welded in the rear...drive it all over and has great power for a 4 banger...Soon to throw in dual cases and 40's and she'll be bangin'!!!!:smokin:

Semi dd with the bias Iroks, just mounted them Thursday. Had 37 mtr's and loved them. Even after two sidewall gashes. Wore great and wasn't scared to drive it daily. Irok's sound like a under 10,000 mile tire. Hard to beat the price though. Anything other than polished ice and the Irok's find traction. Couldn't afford 40" mtr radials. Would have went that way if they were cheaper.

It should be fine as long as your driving a 5 spd... I'm going with 37's soon and I plan on staying with the 4.88's. I'll often be DD'ing it this way too.

4.88s w/ 35s, 37s and now 40s
I daily drove it w/ the 35s and 37s
I think a lot of the "ride" depends on how fresh a 22RE you have in there. Mine is a new complete rebuild so it does fine and will even accelerate in 5th gear. On 40s, it is a trail queen now.

4.88s generally cost more

I run 36" SXs and 4.88s in my 85 (22RE / L52 / 2.28 x 2.28)

I like it just fine, although 5.29s would be better on road. It is a trailered rig to events, although our events may put ~100 miles of street driving on it.

Off road, its good for my needs.

I went 4.88s out of cheapness. A buddy was parting his rig, so I got the front/rear axles for $250 with the 4.88s already installed, so basically were free (sold my stock axles for $300 :) )

I run 37" with 4.88. I like it. it was a daily driver like that for a year or 2. now it is trailered. I had a stock 22r with a trd cam, and header with 2.5" exhaust. but thats about as performance as i got when it was still street driven. when i put the bed back on in place of the flat bed, I noticed a change in power because of the weight difference.

5.29's and 37's is going to bring you closer to stock overall ratios. Any reasons your thinking about gearing it up with 4.88's?
