Marlin, Advance adapters, allpro etc...
Advance adapters has a good installation
manual to give you a idea whats involved
in changing them. Took me about 5 hours
to install 4.7 marlins. Most of the time
is R&R the case, cleanup.

Right in your own back yard. Jack O'Brien does most excellent work. I just had the 4 to 1 gears put in my xfer case by Jack. His number is 773-3278. Jack lives in Roseville and he loves to talk gears and stuff. Give him a call. He's as good as they get...

Is the install difficult? Do you need to be a mechanic or can the average mechanically inclined Joe do it?
Do the kits come with good directions?

Thanks for all the info.

Yes the kits come with instructions intended to help the backyard mechanic install them.
We also have a mechanic available to help during install here at the shop. He has done
many of these and can help you through any problems you have.

If I can do the gear change, you can do it too.
I got my kit from advanced adapters. The instructions included was simple and straightforward. Heres another hint to keep things at a good pace and be precise.
Go buy a box of 50 ziplock baggies,
1 black "marks-alot" marker, and 50 plus blank self adhesive address stickers. NOW--- follow along with the directions, and when it states to dismantle a certain part, etc, you will notice a step # off to the side of the instructions (#1,#2,#3,etc...). Put your part in the ziplock bag and write the step # on the self adhesive blank sticker and attach to the baggie. When you reach step # 50, that should be the last step. Just reverse the steps, #49,#48,#47,etc... and voila !!!
REMEMBER---Don't get
