At the driveline shop this morning and the guy there was worried about me running a big ass 42* CV on the front of my Dodge 231D. He's worried that the front output is pretty small and won't hold up to the large CV unit.

He's willing to build the shaft for me, but he is worried and now has me worried.
Any thoughts on this?

It will only see the road to and from the trails, otherwise I will just remove the shaft if I need higher speeds.

42* CV is really not ideal to run on the road at all. It's not made for that kind of RPM and will heat up quickly.

Are you absolutely certain that the 42* CV is your only driveline option?

pretty sure its my only CV type option without lowering the truck.

if push comes to shove i can disconnect the axle end and drive the roads. i have a DD so the truck is a toy now.

Guess I don't. I suppose I could go with those offset joints and a single joint setup at each end.

Any high clearance non-offset single joint setups out there that will work on a heavy fullsize?
