I started hearing a racket im my tow rigs moter (88 F250, 4x4, 460). Sounded like it was coming from #8 cylinder. Sure nuff the push rod had busted through the rocker arm and was hung up in it.. I have never seen any thing like it. What would cause this???

I replaced the rocker arm and push rod and everything seems fine now.

If you rebuilt the motor and you are a idoit like my friend and use diff size puchrods this will happen all the time its very good on a ford to make sure all pushrod are the same lengh.

Thx for the reply..

I baught the truck with 24000 On the new motor?? Probaly got a little over 30 now...

Just cant ever tell waht ya gettin i reckon...

Ya i can see that a rod that was too long would do this.. It isnt a fresh rebuild. Why did it decide to do it now??? Could it of been a valve sticking possibly???
