How do you like that 22r engine? I am probably gonna get a 84 4runner, and I was wondering what problems you foresee with the 22r besides the steep angle cut outs? Cold starts rough?
Also, how are those skyjacker 5" springs? I heard they are stiff and don't flex. They bolt right in, correct? They are the cheapest fasted spring lift out there, and I was wondering how you like them?
I have heard it is easier to beef up the horses on the Carb motors than it is on the EFI's. Bolt on parts will put you up near or over 200 hp.Originally posted by Ricktard:

My 22R has 228,000 miles on it...Truthfully, I would keep it and build it....
As far as the Skyjacker springs, I love the front ones, ...(but), Don't get the rear Skyjackers. I hate mine...
Not to burst your bubble but I think that is wishful thinking. I am not saying that you can't soup up a 22R, but stock horsepower is 100. You aren't going to double that, even with a cam, 20R head, header, and whatever other bolt-on parts you put on it. If you want that kind of power, buy a turbo truck. Originally posted by MudShack:

Nice truck man. Must be nice to have $10k to through into a truck. If I had it, I would do exactly what you did. Go Show!
I've seen write-ups of 200+ HP 22R, but they are usually race motors, not much low-end for trails.Originally posted by Dirty Harry:
