I assume that you have a truck with indipendent front end? Those youse a stupid heated gas method of engaging the front end. From experence i know that these can take minutes to heat the gas and engage with snow driving or in extrm cold. The posi lock system replaces that setup with a cable. Meaning you pull the levver to engage 4x4 then pull the cable to lock the front end in. IMHO if you have the money and it sounds like a good idea than it is way worth it. Hope that helps.

Yeah its more idiot proof then the vacum engagement system on the YJ's.....kinda expensive though.....But It still cracks me up when people take there jeep whelling and there wondering why the front axle is not engaging:D

Put one in my wife's XJ to replace the bad vacuum motor. Easy, took about 45min start to finish. Advice: Use one of the uni bits to drill the hole in the firewall, it will go much faster and smoother. Also, make sure you route the cable correctly or you can melt it on the exhaust or have it wear on the tie rod, etc. Have had it in for over a year now with no problems

To use it you just put the xfer case in 4HI and pull the cable out to engage the front axle. Not much to it.

Got mine for 75 bucks from a guy who bought it an didn't use it. :flipoff2:

problem is that I don't have the money right now to have it installed on my jeep when my low range still doesn't work. In the process of working on it though, maybe when I get my T-case fixed then I'll either see about putting the actuall posi lock in it or maybe doing the home made style. Don't know yet.:flipoff2:
