Yeah something like that. Maybe bring the c pillar a little higher and the top bar back a little farther. Just to maximize rear seat headroom. Use the top bar length from the orange cage drawing and the c pillar from the green cage drawing. That might work

On the cage.

I would do something like the 2nd pic (Orange). Then either move the C-pillar back even more to create the family space or add the family space onto a standard fastback A to C hoop cage. You could taper in the family section over the rear to minimize the bulk of the cage.

I would look at how far back you need to make the B-pillar to make the driver comfortable. With the tub mods the seats are going to be pretty far back and you don't want the B-pillar too close to the drivers head. It may also be nice to be able to add a spreader behind the seats for belts and having the B-pillar a little further back could help make that more simple.

Ok, I'm sure this is a silly question, but how do I determine which tie-rods I can use on my axle (Dana 44) to make my steering setup. I want to build a basic y-link steering setup.

I have a 78 Cherokee Chief Dana 44 front and I'm looking for the tie-rods. I don't think I need 1-ton parts since I'm only on 35s but what is everyone's thoughts?

Took me quite a while to wrap my head around how I wanted it to look versus the need for rear seat protection, and this is what I finally came up with for my cage... Sorry it's a flatty and not a CJ but the bed area dimensions are essentially the same:

Plenty of room back there for my two minions:

Maybe add some triangulation with a diagonal running from lower C pillar to upper B pillar?
Yes I'll do something more like what I posted above. Start with a fastback cage and add the extra support with another halo hoop for the third passenger.

So I've been slowly chipping away at the front axle. I'm at the point where I just need to setup the differential. Yikes! Any good guides out there?

One small hiccup was that I had two different spindles! One had a smaller inner wheel bearing ID, got those in today.

Fuel tank is mounted.

For now the bulkhead separating it from the rest of the cab will have to wait until after my trip to EJS.
