Most people know I recently picked up a 67 F-100 that was a prerunner in its past life.

The plan is to use it for PreRunning and run some MDR Races. I have always wanted to Race the dezert and this was a relatively inexpensive way to start racing. I don't expect to go out and dominate, but I will have a smile on my face in a unique truck. I will try to keep it vintage in appearance. Here are the before pics, and the link where I decided to buy it.

The roof of the truck is pretty rusty, I will try to remove it and replace it when the time comes.

Pics of the vintage Bilsteins that were on the front.

The 429 Ford. Runs strong, the regulator was leaking gas all over the motor. The motor spins the tires fairly well.

The first order of buisness was to throw on some spare AT's I had taking up space on it. The stock mt's were cracked, bulged, etc. Unfortunately they were on 15x10's and stuck out a bunch. Also I thought the raised white letters looked like ass. Thus I put them on the original 15x8's (I realize this is boring as hell) The white letters were definately vintage looking.

The I removed all of the shocks so I could begin to look at relplacing them. Strange Bilsteins on the front and crap kyb's on the rear.

I then decided to pull the old fuel system off the truck and upgrade it a little. Quite a bit nicer than the original setup, but definately not my best work ever. I always hate plumbing Fords, because the damn fuel pump is on the drivers side leading to strange routing.

Today was front shock day. We put some 12" reservoirs on the front. The Sauce hooked it up.

Unfortunately the radius arm bushings are binding before full droop. So this weekend these will be installed. Fortunately I was able to pick up the majority of a AutoFAB front kit and a set of Deavers from a pbb'er.

I am trying to fix some of the details on the truck for an August dezert trip. After that I will be ripping the truck apart to a much greater degree.

Awesome Frank! I can't wait to see how it turns out!

You probably already know this, but you can get a much better shock angle on the front end of that thing.

Are you going to take it out to the MDR night race on the 11th. If so will see you out there
Unfortunatley I will be in Chicago for a wedding that weekend.

Is that paper on those old shocks?
Aluminum stampings that are fins. They are pretty rotted and thin by this point.

Yeah the entire front end will be redone at some point. The rear is a bigger issue for me at present. For now I threw some shocks on it mostly to shake down the rest of the truck. (Engine, trans, etc.) I am starting with a bunch of unknowns. After my august 25 trip, I will be redoing the entire rear half of the truck.

Adding deavers, bypasses and airbumps along with a C-pillar for the cage.

My buddy had a black F100 of the same vintage with a 360 V-8 so this brings back some good memories of wheelin' the mountains of CA.

For some reason the pics aren't showing up for me. What can I do so that I can see them?

So I stripped down the front end to move the brackets. I was told that the bolt holes in the brackets lined up with existing holes in the frame. It does not appear to be correct for my truck, but it is a Ford and no two are alike.

My plan currently is to measure the oe arms and the modded ones and move the mount that amount. If I would have had a pickle fork I would be much closer.

Here is the suspension as of yet.

Looking good. That truck is already bad ass, and with the fine touches you are adding is making one hell of a ride. I like it......ALOT:grinpimp::smokin:

Well, I worked in the garage all day. I would think I would get a bunch done, but too many trips to get bolts, drills, pickle fork, argon/co2, swapping the air fittings on all my air tools, etc. slowed me down a touch. Oh and in a moment of project creep I tried my hand at body work...scary shit.

btw, thank god for Lovelady hardware in Torrance, Lowes and Home Depot are closer, neither has any 1/2" grade 8 hardware in their bins. Neither of them offered fine thread either. Ended up using 1/2-20 grade 8 exclusively.

Basically I got the original brackets off and bolted up the new ones today.

A quick question for those that are knowledgeable, is there an online thread or some other location to learn how to adjust/rebuild kingpins? I would like to adjust if possible as I will be changing spindles and beams in Sept. Either way I have no idea how to do anything to them. (truth be told, I know almost nothing about every system on this truck)

One of my employee's has a 1450 ranger. I really like the ranger, but they are fairly slow. I love vintage iron. My Camaro, CJ, Honda (Which I now have to sell due to my Ford purchase) and my Ford are all vintage. I just want to have fun with my 1k prerunner.

The Ford is the largest v8 I have beating the cj by 10cid and the Camaro by 23cid.

im lookin forward to seein your build, anything vintage is cool!!

Yeah, I like the BroDozer truck. I am thinking that eventually I will go fleetside like his truck. The budget is currently all about the rusty bed and fenders that are on it now.

Got the arms in. Drove the truck more today and on the freeway than before. I like it, but with the beams that came on the truck it seems to be lacking in caster. Wanders a touch. Both kingpins are loose, which will likely be the next project. That or gauges for oil press and water temp.

I was too busy driving it to photograph it.
