Hey guys,

I am looking to upgrade from my Dana 44 front and I believe 10 bolt rear. They are locked and have 4.56 gears. They will go under my 85 CJ7 with a spring over. I am wondering what the best/easiest axles are to put under my 72 blazer? Where Can I find the axles? I am thinking I need 1 tons as I am running a well built 350, and want low gearing at least 4.56 maybe lower. I am currently running 36x12.50x15 Swampers. I also was thinking that if I could do disk brakes all around it would be great. I know building axles will cost, I am also open to buying some used, but need to know what to look for, what donor vehicles, years, etc.

In the mean time I broke the passenger axle at the u joint, what is my best option for replacement?

Thanks a bunch.

14 Bolt full-float for the rear, ( a 3/4 ton will bolt in, 1 ton will require moving one shock mount, and both spring mounts ) a dana 60 front would be ideal,
but until then, you can put 8 lug parts on your 44 front.

he said the 44 was going under his jeep so why would he upgrade it:flipoff2: as for it being broke i would just search the venders, many of them carry axle shafts for you 44. the 14 bolt full floater and dana 60 is your best bet for your blazer. the 14 bolt is easily converted to disk brakes and there are tons of info about it on pirate. just my .02

You have a 12 bolt rear and a 14 bolt FF and dana 60 swap is a direct bolt in on a first gen other than the shock mounts on the rear end. And like was said a rear disk swap is a piece of cake and the info is here to help with the install.

Not to hijack, But I have a 70 k10 with drum brakes. I can get a set of axles from a 72 1/2T Blazer with disk brakes. My question, does the 72 have a d44 with flat top knuckles on it? I want to eventually do crossover steering.
