I've been trying to figure out what to do with my '81 720 KC. It has been non-op for a long time. I also have a '78 GMC K15 that has more rust than not but has a decent drivetrain. I was going to buy a cab for the K15 and rebuild the truck but I can't afford to build two trucks and I would rather not get rid of the 720.

I would like to combine the two trucks and I'm trying to decide if it would be better to strip the K15 and put everything into the 720 or pull the 720 body and put it on the K15 chassis.

The truck will be use mostly for light trails and camping and I don't want to run anything larger than a 35" tire. I know that I'll have to build some kind of flares for the truck to stay legal and I will probably got with some kind of flatbed with boxes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've been going over this for a while now and I think I'm just going to unload the K15 and use the money for the 720. I decided to keep the IFS for now and run a V6 with an automatic.

I have a Buick 231 V6 that I would like to build but I've heard that they aren't very dependable and everyone advises me to use a 4.3 instead. I live in a rural area in Illinois and parts are hard to find here. When you do find them; people want an arm and a leg for most things. It will set me back anywhere for $300 to $600 for 4.3 that I would have to rebuild anyway. I already have pistons and a Performer intake for the 231 and I like the simplicity of the engine. I don't nee the truck to be fast; I just need something that will get me to some good camp spots and get me home again.
