This ring is the 4spt ring I know because I'm keep the ring that fits the np 205 shift boot I have and both rings came off the same 4spd NP 205 4x4 truck

The 4 speed ring is more oval in shape.

Newb and I have been seeing these things in the wrecking yards and in trucks we have parted out, if the boot you have was on the 4 speed shifter lever it was done by a previous owner but not the factory IMVHO.

Beyond that checkout the shape of the transfer case hole in the floor of the cab.

You will see it copies the exact same shape of the boot bezel you have in your original post.

It might be the 88-92 new body truckring not the old body 73-91.

When you pull the carpet up on a auto trans truck and expose the sheetmetal trans hump you will find not only the jute/pad cut out hole is oval shaped but that there are 7 dimples in the hump, 1 center line of hole, 6 for the trim screws. 73-87/91 465 is oval.
