I found a high pinion front D60 and rear D60 out of 1979 F350. Both only come with spider gears and axle housing. Seller wants $1,500.

Is it worth $1,500?
Would it work well in a TJ?
Anyone know the width of the axle?

Thanks

front 60 complete is worth 900-1400 depending on gears/brakes extras.

rear is 200-400 complete.

price out the brake parts. You're looking at spending another 300 or so. Not to mention shafts.

I'd pass.

1500 sounds like too much. I'd pay 1000 for the front, but I wouldn't pay anymore than 150 for the rear.

Seems a little pricey to me... The high end of a complete RC 60 front is about 1200, and the rears are easy to find and can be picked up for next to nothing..

I'd say thats way too much to pay for axles that need a lot of parts still... lockers, gears, bearings, axle shafts, hubs?

Well,

Now that I have subscribed to the 606060606060 attitude, I would say go for it. I located 2 BALLJOINT RC D60's and are not any cheaper than what you have found. One was $1k and the other (DRW) was $1.5k alone. From what I have found here, I would take the bait for the set. Good luck and I pm'd you.

I found a complete running truck with 60's
for $1350 even came with a working snow plow.
Drove it home, sold the plow and gave the motor away. The axles are waiting on me and the rest
of the truck is at the bone yard.
I've seen a few more around here, complete & running
for under $1500.
Look for a complete truck thats dam near junk!
Anyone who has a HP60 for sale knows the value of it.

no desire to ship. I've already got a buyer. I'm not going to flake on him - unless it's for several hundred dollars, which would allow me to buy him off.

I paid 1500 for my front, out of a 79 then traded it to a guy for one out of a 89' that was allready cut down to 63".

1500 seems to pretty much be the going rate.

I've got mine sitting in my TJ now, just finishing up the install. I have a few pics if you're interested.

Lets see some pics.

Being an 89' did you only cut down the long side due to the short tube being shorter? Is the short side pretty rough to cram all the bracketry on?

thx

A buddy of mine bought this abortion for $800 complete and running, and is now narrowing the HP 60 front and FF 60 rear to put in a customer's TJ, I think he sold the kid the axles for $1200, I know he sold the running 429/C6/NP205 for much less, and the body is now on it's way to becoming three or four Hondas.

Right now I'm having trouble finding a ford front for under $1200. I'd like to buy a whole truck but I can't find one either.

Sounds like you already got your answer. Start looking for a POS donor vehicle or anty up the $1200 to $1500 for the front axle alone.

The front axle is exactly 69.5in wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. its pretty wide..

Mines a 79.

so you have a front d60 and rear d60 center secitons with no knuckles, no brakes, no hubs, no shafts, no bearings...are there even tubes commign out of these centers:eek:

Not a deal.... Id give the guy like $300-400 if thats the case to use that HP d60 front for your rear, then find your self a compete d60..

I paint $800+ 200 shipping for my d60 had to buy steering, new rotors calipers, paint, paint...

My rear was free after some trading...

Id pass if Im hearing you right.

I agree with all of the above posts. I bought a chevy 60 in the exact same shape as you are describing, minus the carrier, plus a 14 bolt for $350. Be prepared to tack on about 1000 to 2000 in parts to finish it.
