I searched but didn't find a good hit on this one. The vehicle is a 85 4runner, with a 22re(c) motor. It's got an automatic tranny if that makes a bit of difference.

The has NO power at all, and I've checked the valvetrain and camshaft is at the correct location, in reference to TDC and the crankshaft. The timing is set 5deb BTDC, per spec but it still has no-go!

The code that keeps flashing (after shorting the plug) is a 6.

The Chiltons manual says something about a rotation sensor and an (NE) status? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Ok Chiltons sucks, just let that be known.
What I've got shows distributor, igniter, ECU.
So maybe throw a new cap on there and reset the computer and see what she gives you. Are you getting spark to all cylinders?

Thanks. I'm onto that in the morning. Just pull the fuse to drain power for the CPU yeah? It looks like the cap has been arcing internally..

I guess that would make things REALLY bad at idle (under t/c load) shifted from park to drive. :^)

Thanks.
