I recently bought an 86 K10 that was butchered by it previous owner. Under the dash by the steering column is a large 3/8" ID hose that goes out through the fire wall. What is this and where does it connect. When I press the brake pedal i hear air escape is this related?

Also, most of the emission controls (nightmare) has been removed. Would this cause the truck to almost stall when put into gear (automatic), reverse or otherwise. The truck idles sort of okay when not in gear. Rochester quadrajet.

Thanks for any help.

Don't have my older books here so all the help i can offer right now is plug the leaking line under the dash and see what problems go away and what stays, redneck troubleshooting, and sometimes that works best.:)
