89 4runner temp gauge

My temp gauge on my 89 4runner V6 automatically jumps to operating temp after I turn on my truck. Sometimes it stays at the bottom then shoots up or occasionally it jumps right to operating temperature range and then falls back down. I replaced the sensor but this didn't seem to help. I am new to the toyota thing, been a Jeep guy for years so I am trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks

Was that in the form of a question? Check the wiring or something..

Seriously tho for whatever reason the japs decided to use two sensors on the 22re. Dunno about the 3.0 but its possible theres ones for the gauge and one for the computer. If youre dumb enough to post this you might be dumb enough to replace the wrong sensor. :flipoff2:
I recall a TSB about this. search for that. I dont remember the fix. but either way it is expensive. but nothing beats the price of a mechanical temp sender and gauge. slap one of those in there, and you will be good to go.

Thanks I ll look for the TSB. I thought about just putting in a new gauge also.

Thanks
