In 90 the V6 auto came with 4:56's. Later years they changed them to 4:88's because it's just not geared right with 4:56. If you change them out go all the way to 5:29's or don't do anything. 33's with 5:29's seem to work well with the auto.

Welcome to AZ.

Ahh...thanks Ken & Hersh for edumacating me a bit more on that. I'd still check the axle codes against the link I posted. Ya never know if the previous owner may have put on the 31's without regearing.

Sticker at the driver's side door opening will show what size tires the rig came with.

Not true. The sticker in the door jamb only shows the base tire size. I know because my mom has a 98 4Runner that came with the 265 tire option, but the sticker says it has 235's or whatever the little tires were.

Wow...really? Thats cool. Never seen it before. My moms sticker still says 225's, even though she has 265's. <IMG SRC="smilies/thefinger.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/grinpimp.gif" border="0">
