My buddy got offer a mint 92 Explorer with a 4.0L, 5spd, 4x4 for dirt cheap, in really good condition to boot.
Now he's a Ford guy so I'm trying to sell him on buying it and turning it into a trail rig.
What info can you guys give me on this year Explorer? Pretty sure it's IFS front so we'll want to do a solid axle up front to replace, any info on that is welcome.
Also any pics of this year Explorer with some lift and what not would be awesome.

Nothing wrong with the axles, they'll take a pounding. My 92 was dirt cheap too,(WAS being the key word ) and its lots of fun to beat on.

They are overweight pigs, with poor stock ground clearance, but nothing you can't fix with a little work and a sawzall

you have a ttb dana 35 front, 31 spline drum brake rear, and 1354 transfer case. It will make and awsome trail rig with some lift, lockers, extended radius arms, and EB springs.

your lucky caus its a 5spd, auto trannys in explorers suck (a4ld) other than that check out explorer4x4 everything you could ever want to know is on there somewhere. They make great guilt free trail beaters.
