Hi, new to the board but not the Sammy. I am in need of an exhaust system.
I've been trying to get the frozen bolts loose from the catalytic converter to the manifold but of course with no success. Any suggestions? I thought my next step would be to replace the entire system. Could take it to a garage but before we moved, my garage wanted $200 for a catalytic converter and that didn't include labor. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined.
Thanks in advance.

I would use a torch to get the bolts apart. Heat them cherry red and walla.

For the cat, Petroworks sells a replacement one for $89. If you want to do the entire system, Traitough has an entire system in 2" for $329 that you could easily install yourself.

Go buy a univesal one from someplace like Summit Racing. Take it too a shop, and have em weld it on for ya. Then just bolt on some 2" tubing, and run it back to a small turbo muffler. I did that set up and it costed me less then 40 for eveything. I Just have it dumped right in front of the axle.

Just got back from vacation and I wanted to thank you for replying to my post. By torch I am assuming you are refering to a welding torch? If so, then I have to find an alternative approach. Once again thank you for your reply.

The weld did break but I just might as well put a new system on it. Muffler is still good but where they clamped the pipe to the holder sprung a leak. The pipes are just giving way and the bolts refuse to budge. Thanks.

All you need is a bottle of MAP gas (looks like the small propane bottles except the bottle is yellow instead of blue) and a decent "torch" tip and you are in business. Probably cost you $50 or less at a good hardware store.
