Have not had a chance to look at it yet but I need to replace a friends front axles on his 96 runner cause of bad CV joints. I was wondering if you have to take the whole sterring knuckle off or can I unbolt it from the diff, undo the snap ring on the stub and slide it out with out taking the whole dam thing appart? Thanks Guys.

I dunno, I removed mine by unbolting the upper A-arm and letting it pull the axle out on it's way to the ground:flipoff2: (SAS)

While the truck is still on the ground unbolt the half shaft from the Diff. Then raise the truck up, disassemble the hub and unbolt the upper ball joint from the upper control arm. Depending on how long your break lines are you may have to remove your caliper too. Remove the shock and pull the CV out. Then reassemble.
