The memory setting of the mirror is bad, You have to set the mirror to the position you want it, then set it to memory. This process is shown in the owners manual. It's been about 3.5+ years since I worked at the dealershilp, but it involved pressing the memory buttons in a certain sequence.
Another issue that I remember with them is that the positioning resistance boards in the mirrors would get corroded, or otherwise messed up, and that exorsizing the mirrors fully up/down and side to side a few times would usually clean off the contacts on the internal sensors. If that failed, the memory mirrors needed replacing.
