Hey Guys,

I have a CJ-7 with a d44 front with new calipers, pads, rotors, from a cevy and ford. the rear is a new explorer style disc setup from dutchman, the master cylinder is a new Stainless Steel Brakes 7 inch corvette booster and a gm 1 ton master cylinder, i have a new stainless brake lines. I really have no brakeing power. so i went over to stainless steel brakes head quarters and i was talking to one of their salesmen. he gave me a brake pressure guage kit and told me to put it on and see what the pressure is. he told me 1700 psi in the front an 1300 in the rear. he also told me that the reason why my brakes suck is because i need to lenghten the rod that goes into the booster. so i said ok and went home with my free $40 pressure test guage. well this was 2 months ago and i today i had the time to hook the pressure guage up and see what is going on. so i put it on the rear pass caliper and have my buddy push the pedel down, well i have about 500 psi in the rear on both sides. then i turn the truck on and the guage reads 500 psi again. my vaceum guage on my dash says the motor is making about 20 pounds. so then i move to the front and hook it up and it reads 700 psi on both sides with the engine on or off. so i went and lenghtened the rod about a inch and nothing happened in terms of pressure, so i then shortened the rod about a inch and nothing happened. I am lost here and i do not know what to do. btw, when i pull the vaceum line off the booster there is plenty of suction. so is my booster not working? should i switch from the silicon brake fluid to a good DOt 4 fluid. should i rebleed the system. i no longer live 20 minutes from SSBC so i cannot go down there and see them. Can you guys help me at all.

Thanks in Advance,
Scott

Ok the Presure should Be from 1200, to 1400 PSI for Proper braking Check You'r Fluid Again for Air in the Lines ,

do you Have Access to A Vacum Bleeder This Is The Most Excellent way! do Verify if You Lines are Bleeding Properly

also Is the Master Cyl A disc Front and rear Master Just becuase the master is corvette Doesn't Mean It had Four wheel Disc Check If there is A Ten Psi Valve In the Master Cyl But You could Have Bad Master As well Seem's Fluid Is the Culprit Here though!

Also Check The Calipers For Movement I have had Bad Calpier's It has happen to me Before right Out Of the Box!

I run Hydroboost and would Never Go Back!!! I can Lock up All My 39.5 TSl 's Antime I want!\

A hydroboost system uses hydraulic pressure from your power steering pump to provide boost. You need to check the pressure where it comes out of the master cylinder to get a good reading.

Pyro,

Great site with some really useful information. Yor booster comes out of a 76 cadilac fleetwood, the MC is out of a 1 ton truck(guessing chevy)but what year? the lines were all custom made. what about the steering pump and box. i have a AGR setup now with the superbox 2 and pump. what modifications will i need to make to these to get the lines on it? also what kind of fluid do you use, is it normal dot 4 brake fluid or is it something special. Sorry about all the questions. I think i might have a winter project.

Adam, I would like to here about your brake setup also.

Thanks so Much guys.

The MC is from the same '76 Cadi, I just installed the AGR ram kit three day ago but I'm still using my modified chevy pump. It all works together with no problems but would probable be even better with the AGR pump(the chevy pump is almost new so I'll wear it out frist). The lines are all the same fittings and using regular 4 dot with a cooler(modified trans cooler). The local Napa had all the Hydroboost parts.
