Yes there is. There are 6 lug versions with a GVWR 7,200 and there are 8 lug versions of 8,600 GVWR. Im not sure of the technical name for the higher GVWR so I called it HD.

You got it backerds... The 8 lug 2500 is the "regular" 2500. The 6 lug version is the 2500 light duty.

The 6 lug 2500 is a 1500 with larger rear axle, heavier rear springs, 6 lugs, and 16" rims. The chassis, front suspension, motor, and transmissions are the same.

And just to further complicate things... The F44 heavy duty chassis package on a 1500 4x4 gave you the same rear axle in a half ton as the LD 2500 and the same front brakes.

Also, the 2wd 2500LD front spindles are unique to that package because of the larger bearings used in the 6 lug hubs so the suspension isn't completely the same.

This gets more awesomer. The 2wd 6 lug hubs used the same bearings as the 5 luggers. I was able to essentially convert my C1500 into a C2500LD by swapping in a 14SF in the rear, and simply bolting the 6 lug hubs on my existing spindles.
