I checked the conversion out. Depending which write you are going by, the idea that you can have a 30amp fuse hooked up to a 55amp or higher alternator is not good. If you put the alternator under heavy load it will blow the fuse and either damage or blow the diodes in the alternator. The 6ga wire he ended up with is what you should do when first installed.
If you are going the bracket route to fit the 7127-3 or 7294-3, I would check my Christmas Specials as I have some CS130-ACSE on sale this month. They are one wire units and will give you almost as much at idle as those others give you at 5000rpm. If you want the idoit light in your dash to go out though we also do them in a retrofit design and include the pigtail harness to make the conversion.
