I'm sitting here on hold w/Six States to order my 35 spline stub shafts. I'm still undecided on whether to buy the Warn lockouts or modify my stock ones. I know at least one guy thats blown a Warn, but don't know anyone w/the Spicers. So, has anyone broken (or seen) a Spicer hub (Dana 60), not counting failures due to blown stub shafts?

Also, if you've had your's modified, how much and where? I can get a local shop to do it, but need to provide a drawing of the splines. Any info?

Thanks,

Pete

Thanks, emailed ORU about it.

Also emailed Warn about a normal type (non-set screw) hub for this app. I don't see why you couldn't mix'n'match the 35 spline internals w/a regular 30 spline dial to make it work.

ORU says $75 each. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> Would really like to find specs (drawing) on how to do it.

Hey Pete can you bring me one of the Hubs to see if I can modify it for you. Do you think that you can just put the larger spline in it or will you have to make something new? Let me know.

I remember back a few yeas ago reading about the 35 spline upgrade and I thought you only needed to remove a part from the spicer hubs. This was in an old Four Wheeler so you might be able to do a search on their site and find it.

You basically hog out the hole in the part of the hub that goes on the shaft, and broach or cut new splines in it. This is what all the 35 spline conversions did before the Warn was available. I remember seeing the article too. Donovan, do you work at a shop in town? Just curious.

Yes we own a machine shop up in Wheat Ridge just up the street from Medved Chevy. My brother also worked at Mark Williams so we can get things broached pretty cheapy. Let me know. I will be at the shop tomorrow and Sunday.

Thanks Donovan, I will keep it in mind. Right now I'm waiting for the shafts to come, should be here tommorow. I'm getting ready to leave on vacation for a couple weeks, so I won't be around.

Here's Warns reply to my inquiry:

"The hublock you are referring to is our 35 spline hublock for our Dana 60 rear full floater kit. These hubs were not designed or tested for use on the front of a vehicle, only for our rear full floater kit. At this time we are not planning on making any other 35 spline hublocks."
