Hey I have a LJ20 and I am having problems with the brakes. What I want to know is if anyone has built an LJ20 or so with different axles? I am wanting to put samurai running gear under it but the front axle will give me problems. The diferential on the sammy front axle is off to one side where the one on the LJ is in the middle. Anyone have anny ideas?

If the 20 is the same as the 80, and all you want is brakes, then use the outers from an SJ410 including disc brakes, nuckle assembly and hubs. Now you have disc brakes and free wheeling hubs.

The other thing you could think about is swapping out the t-case for a Sam/SJ t-case. I'm not sure if you'll be able to do that without a little hammer massage of the tranny tunnel.

You'll loose a little on your low range ratio but you can make up for that in a big way with aftermarket t-case gears and/or axle gears.

custom. The current owner bought it as a "finished" rig. Then we went and did most of the mods. What it had was the sami axles, sidekick engine, dual cases and the extra cab and a whole lot of bootie fab. Things like a tent pole used to extend the steering shaft and a tapered hole for the steering which had been beautifully done with a drill and a little side swinging drill action.

But the previous owner did do a pretty good job on the xtracab tho:)

Try checking out the LJ-10 website, here:

http://www.lj10.com/discus/

Lots of good info there.

I just bought an LJ-20 and was considering going to "full size" Sami axles, but then it wouldn't fit in the back of my pickup anymore. 5.66 gear ratio and third members same front and rear are nice. The SJ-410 outers work well. The 3:1 low range T-case aint bad either.

Personally, after considering many mods, I think I'll stick with small and light weight (<1400 lbs.) That's what makes these vehicles unique and capable.
