They used them in their US Forestry trucks, my stepfather has a retired one. 3 ton truck, the diff is HUGE, with the stock 42's on his model truck there is about 12" clearance at the diff max.
I went out and looked at his truck last night, he has a Detroit diesel, followed by a 10 speed gear box with a 2 speed splitter behind that giving him 20 high range gears forward. There was no axle tag, so I have no clue whats in the pumpkin, but the truck maxes out at 48 mph in top gear, so it seems its still pretty low geared...
