I have an 82 truck and I wanna get rid of the old 2 shaft radio. I want to know if anyone here has put in a DIN sized radio in their truck. Pictures would be nice. I cant seem to find a place for one to go, the dash seems too small to mount one there. Thanks.

...I did. JVC CD. BUT, I put it in the glovebox. A bit of a pain, but I don't have to worry about it being stolen.

Don't have any pix, but I took out the glovebox, brought it into the living room with the CD player, used that stupid pipe strapping stuff and some bolts, and cut the glovebox to fit it. I can still fit my faceplate, a screwdriver and a bunch of other stuff in there, and I just stuck my registration on top of the deck. Easy to find, and it won't fall out or get lost in all the shit in there.

okay heres what i did. I cut out the ashtray, then I got some black plastic stuff from the car audio store, same texture as the dash, screwd it over the hole and cut a hole in it, then i screwed it in place, Done it twice now, its not too bad

here is my 82 right hand drive toy

i removed the original radio, adn ash tray. used an angle grinder to make a hole large enough to alloy the cd player to fit. i then put its mount in, and used a piece of arcylic to cover where the ash tray was and resprayed the panel so as to look sweet.

I made a metal insert to replace the factory plastic part, it looks sort of crappy but holds the CD player nicely.

eventually I'll get another dash and weld up all the factory holes except for the instrument cluster and then mount everything, including the glovebox exactly where I want it.

I took out the whole plastic piece that was in mine. Then used it as a guide to make a new one out of sheet metal. Has the holes for cd player, heat/ac controls, and cig lighters. I painted it with some black, textured paint. Not hard to make and looks good.
