I understand there are differences in SM465 outputs - which SM465 version would a person need to use with your 465 to Toy case adapter?

I assume your adapter is the plate and a coupler?

Thanks

you got it - 465's can be had around here for $100-$200, and you just don't find 420's people want to sell

Not that I am opposed to one - if one falls into my lap I'll use it (right after I go to the hospital since that would obviously hurt )

Hi David..

The 465 you want is the ten spline output
(usually found mated to NP 205's)
We have considered making a coupler to use the 2wd version 465 the only downside is that the adapter would have to be made longer

The only other 465 that I know of is the 32 spline (NP208) version and these have a looooong output shaft and are not splined close enough to the transmission to warrant consideration...

As an aside, a lot of times guys who restore/hot rod late 60's chev trucks will have a 420 or two percolating under the bench in their shop, a lot of these were swapped out in favor of the TH350 auto...........

Airzuk, What is the overall length of the adapter? Not that my toy doesn't have the wheel base. Just trying to keep it set at between 105 and 110 with a decent drive shaft length front and rear. Thanks

Mike, The adapter itself is 5.250" long.
you have to add the transmission lengths to get the actual driveline length
SM465 is 12" case length
SM420 is 10.5" case length

If you are keeping the Toy motor the bellhousing adapter adds 1/2" to the length of a W56 bellhousing.

That is what I am doing except I plan on keeping my crawler and stock t-case.
