Currently I have a 4 cyl. with the AX5. I have an AX15 in the garage. Will I get any better gearing with the AX15 behind the 4cyl.?

Or, should I just swap out the old and go with the 6cyl, AX15? Will that lower my gearing?

I have D-60's, 5.13 gears with 37" tires.

Thanks. :D

wicked info on that website! the jist of it is that the ax-15 will not bolt up to the 4cyl. engine... but... advanced adapters has an adapter to bolt the ax-15 trans to the 4 cyl now. or just put the 6 cyl. engine in.

I don't really want to change out the engine just yet. Thinking about getting the adaptor from AA. Will I get a lower 1st gear with the AX15 tranny?

if you're gonna swap it, then look for the NVG3550. its the 5-spd trans that replaced the ax-15. its even stronger, and has a lower first gear ratio. about 4.01:1 first gear. ax-15 is only 3.38:1 ish. the nvg3550 came in newer TJ's. its the trans i would use... then again if you want beef then get yourself a nice nv4500, cause you know you want one;)
