If I was to run 36.5" tires on a 79 Bronco with a built Dana 44 HP, meaning Yukon axles and joints, and a truetrac carrier, would I be looking at frequent axle repair bills? The best way I can think of to describe how hard I wheel is not quite hard enough for body damage to occur (yet)...

I'd say go for it. I ran a FWD44 with spicet 760's for a couple years with 35BFG's and I wheeled hard enought to get quite a bit body damage. In 2 or 3 years I only broke 2 joints and neither time ruined a stock shaft.

IIRC, TrueTracs have a 32" tiresize limitation, so I'd use something else.

a 79 is a tad heavier. but in saying that I ran a d44 welded with 38.5sx's on my 78 bronco for a year. thats about how long everything lasted, then I went to a 60.
