With appreciation to those who told me, I now know that Jeep CJ models, with a Dana 44 rear, used a 5 on 5.5" bolt circle pattern. I would like to take this a step further, and dare to ask if the axleshafts from a CJ would interchange with a late 80's Comanche D44. If not, what about the CJ backing-plates on the Comanche axle? I hope that those can at least be interchanged....

Cj models w/ 44's are either form a 86 which is 56" wms-wms or narrower from earlier ones, I think Commanches are around 60" so the shafts wouldn't be interchangable. If your looking for an axle w/ 5 on 5.5 around 60"s a I think a scout II would be the closest at ~59"s. BTW I have one that you could have for $200.

It won't work, re-drill your shafts if you can or go with the scout II rear, it's close enough and has the 5x5.5 bolt pattern!:rasta: :bounce2:
