i have 32 inch tires currently. i am planning on buying 5.29 gears pretty soon. probably genuine gears. i plan on running 36 swampers in a year or so.

how bad will 32's and 5.29's be?

It will suck if you intend to go over 55 mph at any time.

I have a friend with an 85 (fuel injected) who runs 4.88's and 35 inch mudders. It isn't a speed demon, but it does alright.

right now i am burdened with running 31" tires with my 5.29's. it will run 65 or 70 (speedo shows 65) but sounds like a screaming bansheeee!! alas, i keep the truck on the slower roads.

dont buy the gears until you by the tires, dont try and comprimise with the 4.88's only to regret it later....you wont even use 5th with 36's on anything but the flatest roads or downhill with 5.29's.... i didnt even use 5th with 35 bfg's if there was any headwind....

32s are barely bearable.
but its fine, it keeps you from speeding.
then sack up for 37s or 38s

I know a few guy's running 35's and 36's with 4:88's and they do good, but not all that great. They are bareable on the road but not quite low enough for the trails. Like stated above I would wait and get your gears and Tires at the same time. Anything larger than a 33" tire I would recommend 5:29's

i have 4.88s in my runner and i am running 35 mtrs. i can still hit 80 on the interstate with a tailwind. i know a lot of guys like 5.l29s but i personally wouldn't do them. that pinion is just too small for me. just my .02
i don't want to start a gear war.:)
