Well I finally got around to running Barret Lake Jeep Trail last weekend.

It's not the most difficult of trails, but its sure a new favourite for me.

I don't know what it is about it that makes it rank the highest, but the lack of crap everywhere, less people and an actual shithouse @ the lake shore help a lot.
Rubicon could learn a lot from this and maybe this is the way forward if we are to keep Rubicon open ?

Anyway, the steering system held up great, but found my next weakest link. Believe it or not, but REs chrome trackbar buckled like a coathanger

Here's a nice shot coming down the rockgarden

DS

BTW - for a trail called a "Jeep Trail" there was a lot of nicely built FJ40s ON IT

Well I am glad you had a good time on the trail, it is nice. If everyone keeps reading these "Trip Reports" about smaller trails you can bet it'll look like the Rubicon soon enough. Cant wait for that then the club will have to do a Barret Lake Cleanup as well. You should have seen the Barret trail 5 years ago........then you would understand what I am saying.

You should have seen it 10 years ago!! Even more proof of rapid decline in trail conditions. Comparing the first 5 that I ran the trail to the last 5years, it's going quick.

My above post is in no way meant to be derogatory towards the HL club or any other people that help keep the trail clean and open. Just trying to point out that we need to hold our fellow wheelers accountable for their actions and watch/ correct the trends the newer 4 wheeling crowd brings with them. flame away newbies!
