I have a 1977 with a 232 straight 6. I have 2 bent pushrods(cyl. 2 & 4)

I replaced the radiator and started it up one day. The next day I started it up and it was shaking and really missing. After taking the valve cover off I noticed the rods. I have the rods to replace the bent ones. My question is, it there anything else I should be aware of. What all has to happen in orfer for a rod to bend? I don't want to replace these two only to have them bend again

thanks for any help

sounds like you have more cooling system probs than a radiator like a head gasket...... guessing from what you put down..... kinda sounds like you hydraulic locked the engine.... although usually that bends the conn rod before a push rod
I don't think these are interferance motors (where a slipped timing chain will let the pistons hit the valves) but maybe someone else knows different

Put new push rods in and rotate it by hand and see if there is interference. If all looks good, button it up and fire it.
