I'm with Morgan, green/white is very sharp! I also like the very early and rare orange/white, but I concede that orange isn't for everyone. Finally, if you really want to max out the value of the restoration, keep it the stock colors...

I still like the factory red/white- but it is really common. The green is really sharp, too.

I am biased towards the red/white. It is what I learned to drive in. I saw a pretty cool one yesterday. It was gunmetal grey with a dove grey middle. It looked very militaristic, even though it was all stock. There was a kid driving it, maybe 18-19. What a lucky bastard!

Green and white baby!!!! second choice, but would be making a statement, Orange/white.

Mark my words (if anyone gives a crap!) My kinda newly painted (white) FJ60 will be getting some dark green action applied to it in the future! Thanks to Henry's idea awhile back!

the restoration isn't for value...for my personal enjoyment so changing colors is an option. does anyone have a pic of the green and white and the orange and white they can post? and i take it that if i decide to go green and white, i could go to the toyota dealer and get the paint codes? thanks guys, if the green and white is as sharp as you say it is, will probably go that route.

I don't have any pictures of orange/white/orange cruisers (with stock paint) but here's a good pic of a green/white/green 55:

That is a re-paint done by TLC in Van Nuys, but it is true to the original colors. You can see lots more FJ55s here, including other g/w/g ones.

I should update that page...

my 70 fj40 is the first car i bought and the car i learned to drive in. it was originally tan. it was nice but i wanted something with a little more color. i thought about it for quite a while and have decided to do a paint job that would set my toy apart from the rest. my favorite toy as a kid was my tonka toy dump truck it was tuff just like my fj. so my fj is going to be painted chevy canary yellow with black accents ie: hood latches, windshield latches, grill around lights, etc. <IMG SRC="smilies/fj.gif" border="0">

I don't have a close-up of the white-orange FJ55, but it was only available from 1968-1973 as a factory color in the US. In other countries the orange was available until the end of production. Here's a 1974 FJ45 on a factory brochure in the factory orange. FWIW, I love this color, it's one of the stock colors I remember from my childhood (my uncle had an orange 45).

yeah, I went to the '55 site above and the yellow one the red on the back was cool, except, i was like, that one would be cool if it didn't have that red on it.

Do you have any recomendations on macanics and 4X4 shops up there, Ill be moving to Alta Seira next week.
Welcome to the neighborhood Tim. Alot of great trails up here. As far as mechanics go, I hesitate to recommend anyone. I've had to learn to do it myself. Up here you have idiots and you have expensive. Not much in between. Seems like everytime I found a good mechanic they either priced themselves out of the market or got lazy and cut corners.
