I'm thinking of putting a set under my XJ. If there is a better Dodge axle setup please inform me. I don't need anything heavier than a d60, rember unibody. I want to be able to run 37"+ tires without a worry of breakage.

with 37" I wouldnt worry about it. I would run them on my dodge d44.. just i dont see the point. (its my daily driver... quit wheelin it and went to my 4 runner).

But as for that axle being strong enough, i woudl think so. Just remember the shafts are smaller than a normal dana 60 front. The stronger ones are the ford dana 60's, but they seem to cost alot more than the dodge dana 60.

BTW, if you dont mind me asking, how much are you paying for your dodge dana 60? It is almost cheaper to get one ton axles than to re-gear my half ton ones... kinda sad.

You should be able to regear your Ram for $1000 or so. That is what I paid Gearman to do mine. Also, friend so fmine had 4.56s also for that price (or near it) at Rear End Specialists.

Yeah, but Mike ladd was gonna give me a 4.10 geared dana 60 for $800, and then i was going to put in a 14 bolt from pick and pull for $125.

Actually, if i do end up re-gearing, i would probabally go down to right gear and axle in salinas. Real good guys in there. And they built, and installed a 10.5" 14 bolt, converted to semi-floating, with 4.10 gears a detroit locker for $2300... Not a bad deal IMHO...

But we will see.. once i get a trailer, and start towing around my 4 runner, ia m sure the 4.56 gears will ge comming in quick.
