Derail:

Saw a documentary once about a plane that fell apart in the sky, and a boy that was sitting in the tail section fell all the way to the ground (like 30K feet) and lived . He was burned badly as he was falling while bieng burned alive coated with jet fuel, or maybe from the explosion, either way he lived for like three days, and would have survived if not for the burns .

Even before then I always get a seat in the tail section, when you see a crash often the tail section is just sitting there looking pretty good but without the rest of the completely obliterated plane attached to it .

They made a move about that boy, it was called "The boy that fell from the sky"
This woman survived 33K'.

I have to fly into Burbank fairly often, and they load and deplane from both ends of a 737. I'll take a good seat in the back while all the other SWA bugs fight over the overhead bins in the front.
And as far as I know, Burbank is the only airport in the country that does that on a 737

Vulović continued working for Jat Airways at a desk job following a full recovery from her injuries. She regained the use of her legs and continued to fly sporadically. She claimed she had no fear of flying, which she attributed to her loss of memory of the crash, and she even enjoyed watching movies with plane crashes.

She was considered a national heroine throughout the former Yugoslavia and was awarded the Guinness Record title in 1985 .

Vulović used her celebrity to publicly protest against the Milošević regime. This cost her her job, as she was fired in 1990 for expressing views critical of Yugoslav ruler Slobodan Milošević. She publicly participated in protests against his rule .

Imagine getting fired after all that ?? Holy hell ....

So, discrimination years ago would have led to blacks only sitting at the back of the plane.

Then, reverse-discrimination known as "affirmative action", would have led to whites only sitting at the back of the plane.

And now, being treated equally with a 50/50 chance of obtaining the last available upgrade seat or sitting in coach, ... is racist?

It's nothing good, flew outta SFO and went to El Salvador for 6 days, then to Peru for 10 days and was going to finish it off with 10 days in Brazil. Got there, tried to go thru immigration, they held me cause my dumb ass didn't know I needed a Visa to get in, I had a passport, so they threw me in the holding cell till the next flight out which was in 24hrs. Then they handed my passport and me off to security in Peru (you don't need a visa there but they wouldnt let me go, they said they had to bring me back to SFO) so a guard got on the plane with me and flew to El Salvador where he handed me off to 2 guards with AK's and one escorted me to SFO and they gave me back my passport...It was shitty but my own fault..
I saw that happen in Vietnam. I had all my paper work in order and still took me about 30 min. to get through immigration at the airport. 80% of the people were there when i arrived and still there after I was finished. They wouldnt even put an ATM machine at or before immigration. So if you need to pay a fee you had to have immigration escort you past the gates and to an ATM in baggage claim. I feel bad for anyone who got stuck there with out proper paper work.

American upgrades are controlled by the computer. The counter agent has no control over how they get assigned. They used to be able to pick and choose who got the upgrades until around 2005, then they made is so that the counter agents had no control over them.

Based on what I read and my limited knowledge of how AA operates it sounds like the computer gave her friend the ticket, she raised Cain, and the AA agents stopped listening to a crazy woman.
