Why do people do that? Is there really a risk of having your license plate exposed, in a picture on a web site?

I think they think someone will backtrack them via the plate and come steal their rig.

I don't think it does any good because somebody will eventually post a picture of your rig without blurring the plate. It is sort of like having user names on the net. Eventually everyone knows who you are anyway. I've come to the conclusion that if somebody wants to steal something they are going to find a way to get it. So no sense in living in a little box worried about all of the details of blocking license plates and identity and such.

I hope someone does track down my plate number and then goes to where it's registered at.......which isn't where the Cruisers are at........they will find a very unpleasent suprise at the reg address similar to Butchs anti theft.....except ALOT more of them.....and I'm sure not as sweet as Butch's pup

Best bet is to have your reg go to a post office box and not to your physical address. Just like having your car stolen when your set of keys is still inside of it. All the POS has to do is look at your registration card and find your address and open your door with your house key (that is also on your key ring).
Has happened and will happen.

Now if its a photo of a clean one owner 65' FJ-45 LWB I am thinking about buying..... THAT plate would be blured!
